There is no shortage of single-minded winemakers in the Collio. This tiny, crescent shaped corner of North-east Italy gave us Gravner, Radikon, Dario Prinčič, Damijan Podversic and many other growers as defined by their stubbornness as they are by their superlative wines. Collio’s 20th century butchering along a political border, into two countries and two regions - Goriška Brda is the Slovenian continuation, only heightens the local need to assert identity.

But even by those standards, Kristian Keber’s take on winemaking is fiercely independent and striking in its originality.
