Despite being someone equally fond of these regions and their shared winemaking culture (esp. after running Novel Wines in my past life) I hadn't made the connection to being "an ex-Habsburg Monarchy obsessive" wine fan before but you're so right 😂
Well a tasting with Slavoj Žižek would certainly bring a new meaning to the concept of 'spitting'...
An entertaining book on the history of Habsburg Empire is 'Danubia' by Simon Winder. Also essential, of course, are books by Joseph Roth, Musil's 'The Man Without Qualities', Patrick Leigh Fermor's books, and many others.
I’m with you. Maybe one or two of these wines you’ve been writing about will be available in Portugal.
Thank you Bill. Well let's see about that. I think we might be able to make it happen ;-)

I didn't make this association either, that's why I write articles, sometimes I learn something!

Ha! Thank you for the recommendations. It reminds me that I meant to mention the importance of the Danube as another of defining this region.
Paking the wines at the moment, see you soon at Eisenstadt :)
Looking forward to it!
