The mealy, bready character of oak barrels is the most noticeable character of this wine at the moment – which is a shame, since there does seem to be some attractive plummy fruit underneath. There is a feeling of freshness and balance about the wine (if one disregards the oak), so it’s to be hoped with some bottle age this might show a bit more harmony.
