It seems to be a bad habit of the STK winemakers that they like to over oak their Chardonnay. Here, there are completely unintegrated notes of cinnamon, vanilla and sawdust which really dominate the nose.
It feels particularly out of context given the lovely acidity of this wine, and its fairly delicate fruit. I can discern some peach and fresh apricot.
But for now? Come back in 5 years and lets see if we can get beyond the wood.
