Both winemaker Lukas Pocklinger and owner Erwin Tinhof are huge Burgundy fans, and I have noticed a tendency for them to over-oak their white wines in the past. But I’m pleased to report there is no issue with that here. This Weissburgunder from one of their top vineyard parcels has an expressive, ripe character with a little whiff of butterscotch on the nose and white peach on the palate.
It’s loaded with citrussy energy and delicate mineral details on the finish. Just about ready now, but will surely improve with another 2+ years in bottle.
