Nice to smell Zweigelt’s pepperyness on the nose here, before the palate heads off in a dark, savoury direction – with black cherry and black olive. It’s quite tarry and structured – which all feels a little overblown for the variety. Lacking charm or joy, even though it’s a well made wine. The high alcohol doesn’t help with the balance either.
