Gerh. Markowitsch – Ried Rosenberg Erste Lage 2019

What’s nice about this wine is that you can discern the part played by each of the three grape varieties in the blend: Zweigelt’s exuberant red fruits – check, Blaufränkisch’s sour cherry acids – check, and Merlot’s more dark chocolate structure – check.
Overall the wine majors on a dark fruit character, with lively acidity and a long and rather supple finish.
Still a bit youthful and tannic, but with great potential to age for 5-10 years.
