Quite fascinating fruit character in this Grüner – green plum, gooseberry and lime. It’s peppery and lively, with lots of salty, mineral expression on the finish. The nose shows subtle sous-bois and dried herb – perhaps a clue to an additional year of bottle age (this was tasted alongside 2019s).
A great wine, showing a more energetic style of Grüner than many of its peers.
Note: a second bottle of this wine was tasted two days later. It seemed hollow and dilute in comparison. Due to apparent bottle variation, I’ve downgraded my score a little.
