The soils in Ried Steinberg are described, appropriately enough, as “stony and mineral-laden”. And this is what the wine tastes like too – this is a wonderfully taut and sculpted style, filled with salty energy and pickled peach slices.
It’s exciting but also elegant – and a great example of how the Hajszan Neumann slightly pushes the boundaries, going for more terroir-driven styles.
