Compared to its single vineyard twin, Alter Berg, this is ever so slightly more rounded with spicy red berry fruit. The nose is almost floral, with beautifully ripe red cherry and a hint of violets. The texture, as ever with Heinrich’s wines, is enchanting and refined – the tannins are sappy, like sucking on raspberry pips. Superb.
