Lots of fruit expression here, with blackcurrant, elderberry and strawberry fruit on the nose and the palate. There’s a spicy note of pine cone too. A fascinating wine which, despite a high alcohol level, manages to show a lighter and more fruit-driven side of Carnuntum’s red wines.
Oak has played a part here, with noticeable spice and cinnamon notes, but it has integrated fairly well.
