This is one of Matic Zerjav’s black label wines, all made from older vineyards (30 years or more). Here, the Lazki Rizling (AKA Welschrielsing) has a two day col soak before fermentation with some whole berries in the tank.
There’s a bit of lees ageing and it’s bottled with just a pinch of sulphites. Otherwise no additions at all, no filtration or fining.
There are charming floral aromas, with a hint of honeysuckle, wild herbs and citrus peel. The gentle herbiness really adds character to this delicate, light offering.
