This is the old school idea of a Chianti blend – with a splash of white grapes as well as the supporting cast of Colorino and Canaiolo. On the nose it comes across as a bit burnt and tarry, but the fruit emerges nicely on the palate.
Spicy and filled with red berries, the tannins feel strangely woody and raw.
That’s a surprise as the wine was only aged in cement, but either way this feels too young to broach just yet.
