Whilst the rather savoury style of Sepp’s wines seems to work with Grüner, I find it a lot less successful with Riesling. Here, there is a nice spiciness and some honeyed notes, but overall there’s a lack of fruit expression and a slightly hot and salty finish that feels wearing. That said, the nose has a charming and delicate perfume of white flowers and lime, although it’s buried deep.
