Full of dark crushed berry fruit, and velvety creamy tannins, this is one of the best vintages yet from Skegro. Showing bay leaf, juniper and black cherry on the nose, it unfolds to a slightly smoky, compacted palate filled with ripe but brooding fruit.
As seems typical for Trnjak, the acidity is beautiful, and the tannins are smooth but assertive.
For comparison purposes, this isn’t dissimilar to Barbera, but perhaps with slightly less exuberant fruit and more of a gamey, wild note.
