Perhaps it’s the oak that has lent some “rum ‘n’ raisin” or “schnapps” notes to this wine. Toast and vanilla are quite evident on the nose. The fruit acids are good, but the caramel and raisined notes feel like a distraction from what should be a joyful grape variety and wine.
