Not disimilar to Thom’s superlative Sapary, this has far more substantial stucture – which will need a year or two to resolve in the bottle, and a nose that suggests elderberry and cassis. The fruit is expressive and ripe, tinged with herbs, sous bois and woodsmoke. Lots of interest, slightly more savoury than some of Thom’s wines but still with that wonderful open-textured drinkability and entrancing perfume. (Barrel sample)
