With a nose dominated by toasty oak aromas (rather unwelcome at my party), the palate shows a good expression of all three varieties in the blend. There’s some black cherry, some spicy strawberry and the rounded, plummy chocolately embrace of Merlot. Overall there’s lots of fruit, and balance here, with grippy but ripe tannins. Wait a year or two for the wholy unecessary oak to die back a bit and this could be a great wine.
