Whilst I’m not a fan of Cobenzl’s oak ageing regime, here they’ve achieved a kind of high-octane style that does work. The palate has a terrific nutty, salted caramel kind of bite to it – it feels sharp and electrifying. The fruit here is typically creamy – a little buttery too, due to the oak. The finish has a nice lift and good freshness.
Not a style that I can completely get behind, but this has been well done.
