I love this vision. I do wonder how this certification overlaps or might dilute focus from other social impact schemes such as FairTrade. The relationship with organic cert seems natural with no obvious crossovers or dilution. Thanks for the informative article!!

It's designed to deliberately overlap, and as Alwin Jurtschitsch puts it, to effectively join up all the disparate pieces of organic, biodynamic, fair trade etc.

When I interviewed Daniel Arauojo, he acknowledged that ROA's auditors take note if a producer already holds fair trade certification. They also react differently depending on the part of the world and the likligood of the workforce being abused (much higher in the US and South American than in Europe, to put it simply).
